NATS Nursery Ltd. - Native Plants

Mark van der Zalm – LiveRoof testimonial

I have had a working relationship with NATS nursery since the inception of our firm some twenty years ago.  I have always enjoyed the interaction, cooperation and collaboration from Rod Nataros and his staff.  Our landscape architecture firm of approx. 30 professionals in two offices rely on the valuable technical support from NATS nursery in all things – native plants, re-vegetation projects, and green roof design.  Recently we engaged NATS to provide product and technical support on a special project – related to use of the 100mm (4”) LiveRoof roof sedum modules for a small storage shed.  We utilized this project as a training program for our staff to understand more about the product, logistics, and design implications for irregularly shaped roof-tops.  The process of ordering, receiving, and installing was guided by Walt Pinder and the NATS team.  I can confidently say that the entire demonstration and installation went smoothly and resulted in a high quality green roof that provides both storm water capacity, and strong aesthetic value.  I have no hesitation in recommending the LiveRoof product for any rooftop application that requires a combination of roof protection, reduction of urban heat island effect, storm water detention, and aesthetic improvement.  The process of installing the LiveRoof was filmed and streamed to our entire staff using Microsoft TEAMs.  This was an affective way to include people in the training process during the COVID pandemic.  We will be using this recorded event as part of our “VDZ+A university training sessions” and will be part of new staff on-boarding in future.  Thank you Walt and NATS for continuing to provide the strong support and products that our team needs to design new, challenging, and sustainable projects.

All the best
